VALUING STIFFNESS
Every time you push hard on the pedal, you create considerable lateral and torsional forces, which combine to move the lower section of your bike out of alignment. Every iota of this deviation absorbs energy that should ideally be transferred to the road. That’s why stiffness matters; by minimizing side-to-side flex, you maximize power transfer. To optimize this characteristic in a bike frame—without adding weight—you essentially need to work with tube shapes and profiles, as the greater a tube’s diameter in key areas, the more beneficially stiff it’s going to be.

MATERIAL ADVANCEMENT
The stiffness-enhancing shape possibilities offered by carbon fibre in large part explain the prevalence of composite materials in modern bike building. Titanium, in comparison, while being infinitely more impact-resistant and offering exceptional ride characteristics, is much less malleable. Attempts to bend and form thin-walled Ti tubing usually involve heat-treating, which negatively affects the inherent properties of this exceptional metal. Hydroforming can also be used, but is cost-prohibitive when done properly. To develop next-gen titanium bikes—combining everlasting ride quality with stiffness-enhancing shape—requires a true technological step forward. That’s where we come in.

SHAPING THE FUTURE OF Ti
The innovation with T-Lab begins with the development of Ti-Morph Technology, a proprietary precision forming method that allows us to radically shape seamless, Grade 9 titanium tubing into a unique frame profile that produces up to 30% more stiffness (with no weight disadvantage) versus leading titanium bikes. Essentially, at various key areas on the frame, we take a round cross section with isotropic characteristics and create a sort of anisotropic cross section in order to enhance strength and stiffness exactly where it’s needed. The result is a titanium bike that performs like high-end carbon models, all while delivering superior comfort and durability. That's right, the best of all worlds.
